What is the essence of a human being seen through the prisms of spirituality, psychology, sociology, and love, and also of sacred art? And seen also through those of leadership and justice, as well as of politics, and even crime, along with the roles of sexuality and marriage? This book defines man and woman in the context of both cosmology and society, but according to the guiding image of an archetypal human being, a holy creature fashioned in the image of God. Perry also examines what the distortion of this archetype entails, but the better to highlight the excellence of man's divine kingship.

The research presented by Robert Powell in this book shows that a new science of the stars is possible, based on a study of reincarnation and karma. Willi Sucher did much to pioneer the development of a new star wisdom, or astrosophy, as a scientific tool for the investigation of karma. Powell has discovered that applying the science of astrosophy to the findings of karma research reveals through the discovery of astrological reincarnation rules the foundations underlying star wisdom. Once these foundational findings relating to astrological reincarnation research have been assimilated, a reformation of traditional astrology will inevitably take place. Once the new astrology is established, there will be a similar feeling in looking back upon traditional Western astrology that modern astronomers have when looking back upon the old geocentric astronomy. The purpose of this book is to contemplate the incarnations of the prophet Elijah, with the goal of laying the foundation for a new science of the stars as the science of karma. At the close of his last lecture, after discussing the sequence of incarnations of Elijah John the Baptist-Raphael Novalis, Rudolf Steiner spoke of this individuality as a radiant and splendid forerunner...with whom you are to prepare the work that shall be accomplished at the end of the [twentieth] century, and will lead humankind past the great crisis in which it is involved. These words indicate that, from the end of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first century (that is, now), the Elijah-John individuality is to be a radiant forerunner for humanity in the next step underlying our spiritual evolution. Elijah Come Again presents a scientific approach toward unveiling the mystery of human destiny. This theme is timeless in nature yet timely, nevertheless, in the recounting of the unfolding destiny and mission of the Old Testament prophet Elijah. This individuality, whose various incarnations are explored in this book, is of such spiritual weight and stature as to call forth both rain and fire from heaven in the service of humanity s evolution toward communion with the spiritual forces of love and morality that live in the human heart as the abiding presence of the living Word. Elijah does come first to restore all things (Mark 9:12). These words of Christ apply now in relation to the ongoing fulfillment of Elijah s mission in the world at the present time toward the peoples of the Earth."

This volume examines the ramifications of individual differences in therapy outcomes for a wide variety of communication disorders. In an era where evidence-based practice is the clinical profession's watchword, each chapter attacks this highly relevant issue from a somewhat different perspective. In some areas of communication disorders, considering the variance brought by the client into the therapeutic 'mix' has a healthy history, whereas in others the notion of how individual client profiles mesh with therapy outcomes has rarely been considered. Through the use of research results, case study descriptions and speculation, the contributors have creatively woven what we know and what we have yet to substantiate into an interesting collection of summaries useful for therapy programming and designing clinical research.

A groundbreaking theory of personality. The author of the controversial book The Nurture Assumption tackles the biggest mystery in all of psychology: What makes people differ so much in personality and behavior? It can't just be "nature and nurture," because even identical twins who grow up together—same genes, same parents—have different personalities. And if psychologists can't explain why identical twins are different, they also can't explain why each of us differs from everyone else. Why no two people are alike. Harris turns out to be well suited for the role of detective—it isn't easy to pull the wool over her eyes. She rounds up the usual suspects and shows why none of the currently popular explanations for human differences—birth order effects, for example, or interactions between genes and environment—can be the perpetrator she is looking for. None of these theories can solve the mystery of human individuality. The search for clues carries Harris into some fascinating byways of science. The evidence she examines ranges from classic experiments in social psychology to cutting-edge research in neuroscience. She looks at studies of twins, research on autistic children, observations of chimpanzees, birds, and even ants. Her solution is a startlingly original one: the first completely new theory of personality since Freud's. Based on a principle of evolutionary psychology—the idea that the human mind is a toolbox of special-purpose devices—Harris's theory explains how attributes we all have in common can make us different. This is the story of a scientific quest, but it is also the personal story of a courageous and innovative woman who refused to be satisfied with "what everyone knows is true."

Ancient religions are usually treated as collective and political phenomena and, apart from a few towering figures, the individual religious agent has fallen out of view. Addressing this gap, the essays in this volume focus on the individual and individuality in ancient Mediterranean religion. Even in antiquity, individual religious action was not determined by traditional norms handed down through families and the larger social context, but rather options were open and choices were made. On the part of the individual, this development is reflected in changes in 'individuation', the parallel process of a gradual full integration into society and the development of self-reflection and of a notion of individual identity. These processes are analysed within the Hellenistic and Imperial periods, down to Christian-dominated late antiquity, in both pagan polytheistic as well as Jewish monotheistic settings. The volume focuses on individuation in everyday religious practices in Phoenicia, various Greek cities, and Rome, and as identified in institutional developments and philosophical reflections on the self as exemplified by the Stoic Seneca.

"In every book there is both the topic under consideration and the method of its treatment. The present work, being a theory of the inherent correlations of all processes, attempts to give correlative explanations also. It is evident that if the ultimate unit of the Relative is a permanent somewhat, conditioned by primary correlation which relates to forms and modes of changes, that this ultimate somewhat is the true permanent individuality, and that it is an individuality in some way composed of endlessly changing forms and other modes which but repeat themselves, with modifications, in an endless round or rhythm of changes. It appears that the least element of relative being must be persistently individualized. It is constitutionally indivisible and indestructible, because it is a true correlated existence"--Book. Metaphysical Bible students recognize in the Gospel of John a certain spiritual quality that is not found in the other Gospels. Although this is not true of all Bible readers, it may be said that those who look for the mystical find it in the language of this book. The book is distinctive in this respect and is so successful in setting forth metaphysical truths that little interpretation is necessary. Only in a few instances does the original writing conceal the deep truths that the student seeks to discern. Written language is at best a reflection of inner ideas, and even though a teacher couples ideas and words as adroitly as Jesus does, elucidation is sometimes difficult.
