Excerpt from Minutes of the Thirty-Second Annual Session of the Women's Home and Foreign Mission Convention of North Carolina: Held in White-Rock Baptist Church, Durham, N. C., October 1-5, 1916 The Object shall be to establish and improve Baptist Home Mission Circles in all Baptist Churches and destitute sections of the State, to assist in supporting the Orphan Asylums at Oxford and winston-salem, and to encourage and cooperate with the Woman's American Baptist Home Mission Society, especially in that department of work known as the Fireside Schools, founded by Miss Joanna P. Moore, which aims to awaken interest in the study at home of the Bible and other good books and to get the whole household to attend both the Sunday school and preaching service, and to cooperate with the Missionary and Educational Convention of North Carolina in Home and Foreign Missions.
