"The Spirit of God speaks in a whisper and is heard only by those who listen with their hearts." Few things in life are as rewarding, yet humbling, as being inspired by God to write about Him and for Him. The light verse and heartwarming anecdotes in Light for the Burning Soul - Sparks, Flames, and Embers are but a small measure of how He has blessed the author's personal walk with Him, including years of teaching, and learning from, kindergarten-aged children. Its pages offer sparks of encouragement for those about to take their first steps with God; flames of excitement and joy for those who are already experiencing the walk; and embers of reassurance for all - lingering reminders that God is in control; that He always has been; and that He always will be. With no more than one poem (or portion of a poem) per page, the paperback version of Light for the Burning Soul offers sufficient white space to allow and encourage readers to jot down their own thoughts on the spot, should they be inspired to do so.

Born to a Belgian family in the year 1906, Léon Joseph Marie Ignace Degrelle rose to prominence as a newspaper editor and head of the militant monarchist, Catholic, and anticommunist Parti Rexiste. Following the German occupation of Belgium, Degrelle and his party loyalists enlisted in the Wehrmacht-organized Walloon Legion to aid in the liberation of the peoples of the Soviet Republics. He raised approximately 6,000 volunteers over the course of the war, both for the Wehrmacht and, later, for the Waffen-SS. Barely a third of these volunteers would survive. Degrelle and his men were noted for extreme bravery, brutal ferocity in close quarters fighting, and an indomitable spirit of self-sacrifice, with Degrelle himself earning the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves. After the fall of Berlin, Degrelle made a daring escape from the crumbling Third Reich. He managed to reach Spain, where he was safeguarded by Franco's government. His native Belgium later sentenced him to death in absentia for collaboration with the Germans. Degrelle expressed no regrets for joining the war on the side of the Axis Powers, defending both his own actions and those of his superiors and comrades. He lived in Spain until his death of natural causes in 1994, and remained active in anticommunist and pan-European causes despite several attempts at his extradition, kidnapping, or assassination. The Burning Souls is Degrelle's reflection on his experiences and on the soul - part poetry, part memoir. In it, he traces his journey, from his idyllic childhood to the frozen steppes of Russia, not just as a physical journey but as a great spiritual trial. He instructs us that to give oneself completely, to be willing to weather all hardships in service of a transcendent ideal, is what is required to overcome the spiritual malaise of our day. The Burning Souls is now being made available for the first time in English by Antelope Hill Publishing.

On the day I fulfilled the vision prophesied by my most influential guide, Louise Kandakai, the path laid out over a year prior dramatically turned leading me in search of answers to what I and my friend and nature guide, Marco Steven Montoya, witnessed deep in the jungle of Costa Rica. It was a wake up call to the lie I had lived and a moment that exposed the untruths of a system forced to follow. In my awakening, my thirst to seek the truth of why we are here and where we came from grew and I could no longer close my eyes and walk blindly to the indoctrination of society. The thirst for more continued to drive my quest for knowledge and in that quest came more questions directing me to return to a place where presented with a divine gift, my ascension. As I continued following the signs laid out by the divine intentions of the universe, I watched as my path merged with others as each began their own course of self-discovery. Although my first time in Central America yielded several clues to my direction, it wasn't until my return to Costa Rica I realized the spiritual and cosmic connections to the Native Americans and the mysterious fascination with the ancient societies of the Inca and Maya. With a new task along with the bond of friendship, Steven and I moved forward in search of why the universe brought us together and in doing so, opened our eyes further exposing the truths we sought in the unexplored jungle. It wasn't until my return from Burning Soul would we discover more than societal suppression but rather a pre-Columbian history of a now endangered people systematically erased by the same veiled structure that exterminated a continental indigenous population and continues to do so.

In story and essay Virginia A. Ward paints vivid pictures of the impact of growing up Catholic and goes on to document the obscure origins of the dogma, ritual and practice embedded in the stories she tells. She discusses the divinity of Jesus, and the virginity of Mary. She examines the issues of clerical sexual abuse of children, Catholic education, the crisis in vocations, and the politicizing of sainthood. She traces the development of the Irish character of the American Church, and documents the hierarchy's obsession with sexual issues, as well as its ongoing bigotry. Infallibility, its origins and how the fear of loss of authority has affected the Church's stance on a wide range of issues including birth control, married priests, and the place of women in the Church are chronicled. The Church's use of its status in the United Nations to forward its secular agenda is explored. Those who seek knowledge, who have endured guilt and fear, will identify with the author's experiences and her back to basics approach. They will confirm that they are not alone and have a basis for further study.
