The city of Ro Canarn burns. With their father s blood fresh upon the headsman s sword, Lord Bromvy and Lady Bronwyn, the last scions of the house of Canarn, face fugitive exile or death. In the court of Ro Tiris, men fear to speak their minds. The Army of the Red marches upon the North. Strange accidents befall those who dare question the King s new advisors. Those foolish enough to speak their names call them the Seven Sisters: witches of the fire god; each as beautiful and as dangerous as a flame. And, called from the long ages of deep time by war and sacrifice, the children of a dead god are waking with a pitiless cry. All that was dead will rise. All that now lives will fall."

He is also pursued by mercenaries and bounty hunters. His companion is Cody, from a wolfman-like race called Canians and a former victim to Josh’s own brutal hand. The two enemies have become friends. Along the way, they will meet other unexpected allies, and Josh’s heart will be torn between two women, Laylee and Tana. Conflicts with the Honsho Piracy will also produce a questionable ally in the famed Gold Gatling. Together, they will be pursued relentlessly as the mystery to the fact that the broken prophecy still seems to be played out and is not broken at all. Epitaph’s reign of power rests on the death of the two brothers. Jase is dead, and somehow Josh is still a threat. The adventure will span many worlds and systems, including dangerous foes like a mercenary that collects patchwork skin from his victims, and Josh’s former bride, now the bride of Epitaph and herself with a zombie side and a wrath of thirst to desperately quench with bloodshed and an agenda of her own. Can Josh Broody find love again and survive being hunted as his very existence could seal a prophecy and bring a tyrant down to restore freedom? Or will Epitaph kill Josh and anyone that assists him and further cement his domination in the universe? In the Shadowed Stars universe, the victory of heroes is not always a sure thing. What is a religion? That is the question that Richard Kent Evans attempts to answer in this book. He does so through the story of MOVE, a little-known group with a fascinating story. MOVE emerged in Philadelphia in the early 1970s. It was a small, mostly African American group devoted to the teachings of John Africa. In 1985, the Philadelphia Police Department -- working in concert with federal and state law enforcement -- attacked a home that "MOVE people" as they preferred to be known, shared in West Philadelphia. Hundreds of police officers and firefighters laid siege to the building using tear gas, ten thousand rounds of ammunition, and improvised explosives. Most infamously, a police officer riding in a helicopter dropped a bomb containing C-4 explosives, which he had acquired from the FBI, onto the roof of the MOVE house. The bomb started a fire, which officials allowed to spread in hopes of chasing the MOVE people out of the house. Police officers fired upon those who tried to escape the flames. Eleven MOVE people died in the attack, including John Africa. Five of those who died were children. In this book, Richard Kent Evans tells the story of MOVE -- a story that has been virtually lost outside of Philadelphia. What was MOVE? Many MOVE members thought of themselves as belonging to a religion, and they sought legal recognition. But to others, including other religious groups like the Quakers and, more importantly, the courts, MOVE was anything but a religion. Evans dives deep into how we decide what constitutes a genuine religious tradition, and the enormous consequences of that decision.

The Quest for Truth chronicles the allegorical journey of Youngblood Hawke as he is transformed from a self-serving soldier of fortune to a warrior prince. Presented with the question and challenge of absolute truth by a mystical sage, Hawke's inability to respond is an epiphany to him and marks the beginning of his struggle and quest. Guided by a beautiful oracle, he is introduced to the teachings of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Sun Tzu, Machiavelli, Nietzsche, Jose Ortega, Shakespeare, and William James spoken through mentors, sages, and prophets. His thoughts become poetically philosophical as he struggles with his own destiny. Marked as a threat to their power and control over humanity, the enemies of change seek to destroy him and his desire to understand. Youngblood Hawke's destiny as a warrior prince is realized when he raises an army of "Select Warriors" and leads them against the "mass," a secret and powerful society controlling many of the world's governments. Youngblood Hawke quickly learns that the spiritual and philosophical battle for truth will not only be waged on the battlefield but also within the darkest confines of the human mind, heart, and soul.
