Rebuilding the Crown

Rebuilding the Crown

As Kate warmed her hands from a hot mug of Fry's coco her eyes turned to glass
as she watched the flicker of the lighthouse grow more faint with each wall of rain
as its salty soul washed the dark glass. As the night grew older and the wind
swept up, the waves lashed the decks as if to make the ghostly travelers pay for ...
Tom had never seen such a patriotic bunch, as the crowd sported their green
faces.

It is the spring of 1952, Mick Joyce, Tom Sullivan and Kate Collins are leaving Ireland with a youthful exuberance in the hope of making their fortune. England is still in economic turmoil after the war but still fares much better than the Emerald Isle. In the Ireland of the nineteen fifties the cottages are still thatched and if there is money in the house it is slated. As a compromise between the rich and the not so rich you might see a corrugated iron roof. Either way Ireland is an empire a few centuries behind our closest neighbour. So it is common place to see the ferry boat the St. David full of Irish, after Christmas, heading to England to earn the King's shilling. The tears flow each time Ireland's sons and daughters depart. Hearts are heavy but this is Ireland of the nineteen fifties. The mothers and wives are left behind to keep the nest together from season to season with an ancient sadness that they never really spoke of. Over the next ten years their lives would intertwine intermittently. The story that ensues is one of love, laughter, drink, hard work and loss. The book also tells of their encounters with other emigrants, Irish, African, West Indians, a Russian woman who could fill a cement mixer faster than any Irish navvy and a Pole who little by little created a life for himself and his Irish lady from nothing. It was in one of London's dingy bed sits that Tom and Mick first settled into. They grubbed hard, drank by the imperial gallon, fought in the pubs and on the streets of London as if re-enacting their modern version of the Irish War of Independence on foreign soil. By night they tore London asunder and were on site the next morning at 8a.m. to rebuild it from the ground up. This is the story of the life of Tom Sullivan now in his senior years having returned to his home town of Tralee. A man of wisdom self educated in the ways of the world, he tells his story with a wit and honesty that will bring both tears of laughter and sadness to the reader.

It’s a Heart Matter By: Flo Young Author Flo Young has always had a desire to encourage others through her inspired words and deeds. Poetry is her outlet when life gets too tough to handle by ordinary means; it was discovered at one of the lowest points in her life. She started her journey with God at an early age. She found that He was the only real assurance she could depend upon in every facet of her life. Whether it’s a broken heart that needs to be mended or a death of a loved one that perhaps was caught by surprise, God uses Young as His vessel to minister a portion of Him. It’s a Heart Matter was written as a token of her faith and appreciation of God’s hand upon her life. Often without searching, His spirit comes upon her. His word is so powerful that she has to jot it down at that moment because it is so profound! The poems that are written come by way of that spirit straight through her heart. As the spirit of anointing is poured out upon her, the weight is so heavy that she has to find an escape just to be able to breathe!

New York Times bestseller Monica Murphy returns with her most beloved characters, Drew and Fable, in this novella that brings her bestselling New Adult series full circle. For fans of Jessica Sorensen, Abbi Glines and Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Disaster. Fantasy. How I ended up with NFL player Drew Callahan, the guy every woman wants, is beyond my wildest dreams. All I know is that once he chose me as his one and only, I sure wasn't looking back. I had past wounds and he showed patience and concern - even taking responsibility for my messed-up kid brother. Now, once again, he's found a way to blow my mind: an exotic wedding and honeymoon miles and miles away from home. What else could a girl ever ask for? Reality. Now the honeymoon's over. Drew's football schedule takes him on the road constantly, while I need to stay put and look after my brother until he finishes high school - because God knows our sorry excuse for a mother won't. I know Drew loves me with all his heart, and I'll always be over the moon about him. This just isn't how I imagined our life as newlyweds...dealing with the distance, missing him all the time. But we've gone through hard times before. We can get through this, too, right? We're Drew and Fable, together forever. At least I hope so... Don't miss the rest of the intensely passionate One Week Girlfriend series: One Week Girlfriend, Second Chance Boyfriend, Three Broken Promises, Drew + Fable Forever and Four Years Later, as well as Monica's sexy Fowler Sisters trilogy and her breathtaking Reverie Series.
