Generation of Polymers and Nanomaterials at Liquid-Liquid Interfaces: Application to Crystalline, Light Emitting, and Energy Materials, Second Edition is an innovative guide to the synthesis and processing of materials through liquid-liquid interfaces. This second edition has been revised and expanded, with a new chapter on light emitting materials and increased emphasis towards applications. The book aims to highlight the versatility of the interface between two liquids, providing a unique environment for synthesizing materials with highly tuned, desirable properties. In this revised and expanded second edition, the advanced applications of the synthesized materials and the two-phase systems are highlighted, with real potential within flexible electronics, energy storage, enhanced oil recovery, and sensors. This is supported by detailed coverage of interfacial processes and the fundamental physical chemistry behind them. The first two chapters provide an overview of interfaces in natural and biological systems, and outline the fundamental properties of the interface. Chapters 3 and 4 are devoted to the synthesis and self-organization of nanoparticles and polymers through interfacial systems. The synthesis of conductive, fluorescent and conventional polymers and their properties are extensively covered. Chapters 5 and 6 focus on novel applications. This book is of interest to researchers, scientists, and advanced students, in polymer synthesis, polymer chemistry, polymer science, nanomaterials and nanotechnology, polymer composites, materials science, energy, flexible electronics, and chemical engineering. In industry, this supports scientists, R&D, and other professionals, working with polymeric materials for applications in energy, electronics, sensors, and oil & gas. Provides new ideas for the design of fluorescent polymers, conductive polymers, nanoparticle arrays, thin films, and novel 2D materials Includes detailed coverage of synthesis and processing of polymers and nanomaterials at liquid-liquid interfaces Explores state-of-the-art applications across flexible electronics, energy storage, enhanced oil recovery, and sensors

Cardiac Markers is a comprehensive, up-to-date summary of clinical information on serum cardiac markers for coronary artery disease. This book reviews in detail the biochemistry, clinical significance, and analytical measurements for each marker, as well as the advantages and limitations of existing and proposed markers. Comprehensive descriptions of therapeutic approaches to manage patients are presented. Also included are up-to-date listings of primary references and commercial methodologies, the latest data on the pathophysiology of unstable angina, and a discussion of the new emergency-room chest pain centers. Anyone who needs to know how to examine, diagnose, treat, and manage patients with acute chest pain and heart attacks will find this book indispensable.
Comparative Kinesiology of the Human Body: Normal and Pathological Conditions covers changes in musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiopulmonary systems that, when combined, are the three pillars of human movement. It examines the causes, processes, consequences and contexts of physical activity from different perspectives and life stages, from early childhood to the elderly. The book explains how purposeful movement of the human body is affected by pathological conditions related to any of these major systems. Coverage also includes external and internal factors that affect human growth patterns and development throughout the lifespan (embryo, child, adult and geriatrics). This book is the perfect reference for researchers in kinesiology, but it is also ideal for clinicians and students involved in rehabilitation practice. Includes in-depth coverage of the mechanical behavior of the embryo as one of the major determinants of human movement throughout the lifecycle Provides a comparison of human movement between normal and pathological conditions Addresses each body region in functional and dysfunctional kinesiological terms

“More than 60 years ago,” remembered Mr. Stvarnik, “I read the books From Ancient Philosophy to Modern Science of Atoms by prof. dr. Ivan Supek, and the Images from the Lives of Great Scientists by prof. dr. Milutin Milankovic, and for me these are still the most beautiful scientific texts.” From that time, as a much loving hobby, Mr. Stvarnik has studied biographies of great scientists. “I have grown up in an atheistic country,” he once said, “and therefore it was a surprise to find that there were very few atheistic or agnostic scientists; the majority of them were some kind of believers in God. Actually, a good number of the greatest scientific minds were or are Bible-believing Christians.” That realization, along with discoveries of some deliberate distortions of historical facts that made certain Bible-believing scientists look as having an atheistic bent, prompted writing a book The Portraits of the Great Bible-believing Scientists that was published in Croatian and in Serbian languages. Now he has written the same in English, but since many years elapsed from the mentioned publications, he enriched the text with new findings and added 12 new portraits into the book.
