Only half of a home inspector's challenge is technical-- the other half is effective communication with clients. This text is designed both for beginners who need an in- depth introduction and more advanced practitioners looking for tips, sample dialogue and documents, and an understanding of the scope and ethical aspects of a home inspection. The text includes "Inspection Checklists that summarize the important components and problems home inspectors will encounter, and can be used for actual inspections.

Methods of diagnosis and prognosis play a key role in the reliability and safety of industrial systems. Failure diagnosis requires the use of suitable sensors, which provide signals that are processed to monitor features (health indicators) for defects. These features are required to distinguish between operating states, in order to inform the operator of the severity level, or even the type, of a failure. Prognosis is defined as the estimation of a systems lifespan, including how long remains and how long has passed. It also encompasses the prediction of impending failures. This is a challenge that many researchers are currently trying to address. Electrical Systems, a book in two volumes, informs readers of the theoretical solutions to this problem, and the results obtained in several laboratories in France, Spain and further afield. To this end, many researchers from the scientific community have contributed to this book to share their research results.

"Wind Electrical Systems provides an integrated and comprehensive treatment of wind energy conversion without assuming any background of the subject. Beginning with the basics of wind energy, the book goes on to discuss conversion of wind energy into electrical energy, wind energy integration with the local grid, stand-alone generation and consumption, and variable-speed wind generators. The book ends with a discussion of hybrid power systems where wind energy in integrated with another energy source such as solar energy or diesel generators to provide reliable power." "With its wide inter-disciplinary coverage, the book would serve as an indispensable text for students of electrical, mechanical, and energy engineering as well as practising engineers."--BOOK JACKET.

A motorcycle’s electrical system can be daunting to even the most adept home mechanic. And yet, the more complex these systems become—and the more important to a motorcycle’s function—the more useful, even critical, it will be to know something about them. That’s where this book comes in with a user-friendly guide to understanding, diagnosing, and fixing the electrical systems and components that make a bike run . . . or falter. Veteran technician Tracy Martin explains the principles behind motorcycle electrical systems and how they work. He details the various tools, such as multimeters and test lights, that can be used to evaluate and troubleshoot any vehicle's electrical problem. And in several hands-on projects, he takes readers on a guided tour of their vehicle’s electrical system, along the way giving clear, step-by-step instructions for diagnosing specific problems.
