Dream Box is a collection of 161 short stories, anecdotes, dialogues, dreams, and reflections. All of the stories are fictional, but they are all based on real events. Dream Box is the first volume of a series that will ultimately comprise 1001 stories. The second volume is in the works, and should be available next year. Muriel Spark wrote “If I write it, it’s grammatical” and it applies to Dream Box. I write in a borrowed language, but I have made it my own. It is the way I express myself and the way I want to be heard. It remains the voice of a stranger, of a foreigner, with its fragility, idiosyncrasies, contradictions, and its own particular flavor.
Save more than 30% on those young adult fiction stories filled with heartbreak, hope and love! "Beautiful stories. Beautiful series." "Tons of emotions. Realistic characters. Must read!" This box set contains the following: One Dream Only She thought she was on her way to the top... Sixteen-year-old Natalya Pushkaya has one dream and one dream only: becoming the best ballerina ever. Within a week, Natalya's life will be changed forever. Prequel novelette of One, Two, Three One, Two, Three When seventeen-year-old Natalya’s dreams of being a ballerina are killed in a car accident along with her father, she must choose: shut down—like her mother—or open up to love. A Summer Like No Other She’s his best friend’s little sister. He’s the biggest player of them all. They shouldn’t be together. But this summer’s just too tempting. Sixteen-year-old Emilia Moretti’s goal for the summer is simple: forget her brother’s best friend—Nick Grawsky—ever existed. But when Nick decides to stay in the city for the summer, Emilia’s resolve disappears in a pirouette. Maybe it’s the spin they needed to be together. As long as she doesn’t get stuck believing in happily ever after… Nick is not boyfriend material. He only has time for flings, for girls who don’t expect much, for girls he doesn’t want to kiss goodnight. He knows he should resist her, but he’s not sure he wants to… At least for this summer. It’s going to be a summer like no other. Always Second Best Sometimes being first isn’t what you expected. Seventeen-year-old ballerina Emilia Moretti is going to prove the world she deserves to be first. In her upcoming School of the Performing Arts showcase. In the eyes of her birth parents. And in the heart of the guy she loves. But when nothing goes the way she planned, she’ll need to realize what it really means to be first. Eighteen-year-old Nick Grawski is not going to stay away from Em just because his father demands it. He needs to show Em that—this time around—he’s there to stay. Even when her world goes down to shit, even when he finds out his dad may have been trying to protect him all along, even if being there for one another is harder than falling in love.

Well, I’m about to find out (once I’ve tracked down my husband). Note from the author: In order not to get kicked out of the good (okay goodish.... fine, sometimes good) girls club, I’d like to point out that I write steamy romcom and my characters use bad language (sometimes) and like to get it on. There’s no cheating and all my books have a HEA.

The "Warriors" of the 5th Battalion, 12th Infantry, 199th Light Infantry Brigade joined the U.S. Army's lightning offensive into the Cambodian border sanctuaries late in the afternoon of May 12th, 1970. Less than six hours after arriving at a small, poorly-constructed patrol base called LZ Brown, two under-strength infantry companies from the battalion were fiercely engaged with the 174th NVA Regiment. This battle marked the North Vietnamese Army's first major counter-attack of the Cambodian Incursion. For the next two months during that hectic summer of 1970, the 5-12th Infantry and Delta Battery, 2nd Battalion, 40th Artillery fought head to head on a daily basis with some of the toughest and most determined units in the North Vietnamese Army.

"Denis Bell's stories are short only in length; in insight, vision, humor and style they have a farseeing distance and depth that will keep you wedded to the page, either laughing, marveling, or scratching your head." -- David L. Robbins, author, War of the Rats "A thought-provoking collection of flashes and longer stories: poignant, strange, humorous and humane. A Box of Dreams should be opened by all." -- Peter Blair and Ashley Chantler. Editors for Flash: The International Short: Short Story Magazine "In A Box of Dreams, nothing is as it seems. For the characters caught up in Denis Bell's intricately interconnected world of flash fictions, up is down. Black is white. Indeed, only one thing is certain: by the time you're done with A Box of Dreams, you'll find yourself looking over your shoulder... These stories are cool as hell. -- Andrew Geyer, Fiction Editor for Concho River Review, author, Lesser Mountains and Whispers in Dust and Bone "Denis Bell and flash fiction represent a marriage made in Heaven. The two dozen short works in his collection, A Box of Dreams, show him working at the top of his game. In each, the reader's mind is taken for a weird, wonderful walk that's by turns wryly humorous and darkly intriguing. Louise Brown's illustrations lend just the right atmosphere for an absorbing read." -- Paul Blaney, Writer in Residence, Rutgers University, author, The Anchoress Denis Bell's collection of short fiction A Box of Dreams, 2nd edition, centers itself in the tradition of Spoon River Anthology (minus the tombstones) and Winesburg, Ohio. A Box of Dreams is dark without a trace of cynicism: it invites empathy for even the least attractive of the characters; these protagonists commonly suffer from mangled memories, rightful guilt, and an inability to distinguish between delusion and reality, between past and present. The stories tease and tantalize: truth glimmers between the lines. Louise Freshman Brown's gorgeous images are haunting illuminations. -- Miriam N. Kotzin, author, Country Music, Spuyten Duyvil Press Each piece in Denis Bell's A Box of Dreams is a work of magic that moves steadily along, pulling you in, and not letting you go... The stories are by turns haunting, heartbreaking and funny, and they never fail to surprise... Blending the real with the surreal, these stories, more than anything else, get to the heart of our humanity, our vulnerabilities, and they do so in a way that represents the best in flash fiction. -- Dennis Pahl, Long Island University, Editor for Confrontation Magazine
