Often known as The Macabre Cycle, Lovecraft's earliest works of short fiction established the concepts and framework for the celebrated Cthulhu Mythos and earned him a position of authority in the Weird Fiction genre. In the feature story Dagon, a prisoner of war escapes his captors only to be shipwrecked on a strange, unnatural island. In search of basic sustenance, the man comes across an ominous, out-of-place monolith, depicting in strange hieroglyphics horrors and possibilities of a monstrous deep-sea civilization that he dares not consider. Though he manages to escape and find rescue, he does not return to humanity alone... Also included are The Alchemist, Beyond the Wall of Sleep, The Transition of Juan Romero, Nyarlathotep, and twelve more terrifying tales of the macabre.

“[Lovecraft's] dream fantasy works are as terrifying and haunting as his tales of horror and the macabre. A master craftsman, Lovecraft brings compelling visions of nightmarish fear, invisible worlds and the demons of the unconscious. If one author truly represents the very best in American literary horror, it is H. P. Lovecraft.”—John Carpenter, Director of At the Mouth of Madness, Halloween, and Christine With an introduction by Neil Gaiman This volume collects, for the first time, the entire Dream Cycle created by H. P. Lovecraft, the master of twentieth-century horror, including some of his most fantastic tales: The Doom That Came to Sarnath—Hate, genocide, and a deadly curse consume the land of Mnar. The Statment of Randolph Carter—“You fool, Warren is DEAD!” The Nameless City—Death lies beneath the shifting sands, in a story linking the Dream Cycle with the legendary Cthulhu Mythos. The Cats of Ulthar—In Ulthar, no man may kill a cat...and woe unto any who tries. The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath—The epic nightmare adventure with tendrils stretching throughout the entire Dream Cycle. And twenty more tales of surreal terror!

It has taken me 37 years to write this biography of author Robert W. Chambers. Along the way, I wrote and published many articles about him, but did not complete the biography until 2014. I got the idea of writing it when I was 15, and the reason I got the idea is the same reason it has taken so long to write the book. There simply is not that much information about Chambers out there. Despite his fame and thorough integration in New York high society, very little was written about him during his lifetime. This volume contains the Expanded Edition of the biography, Robert W. Chambers: Maker of Moons, as well as the collection of articles, originally titled, Robert W. Chambers: In Search of the Unknown Author of The King in Yellow.
