An international news story when published last year, now in paperback: A historical detective story leads to dramatic and ground-breaking revelations about the life and times of Jesus. Waiting to be rediscovered in the British Library is an ancient manuscript of the early Church, copied by an anonymous monk. The manuscript is at least 1,450 years old, possibly dating to the first century. And now, The Lost Gospel provides the first ever translation from Syriac into English of this unique document that tells the inside story of Jesus’ social, family, and political life. The Lost Gospel takes the reader on an unparalleled historical adventure through a paradigm shifting manuscript. What the authors eventually discover is as astounding as it is surprising: the confirmation of Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdalene; the names of their two children; the towering presence of Mary Magdalene; a previously unknown plot on Jesus’ life (thirteen years prior to the crucifixion); an assassination attempt against Mary Magdalene and their children; Jesus’ connection to political figures at the highest level of the Roman Empire; and a religious movement that antedates that of Paul—the Church of Mary Magdalene. Part historical detective story, part modern adventure, The Lost Gospel reveals secrets that have been hiding in plain sight for millennia.

Is Canada Postcolonial?

Unsettling Canadian Literature

How can postcolonialism be applied to Canadian literature? In all that has been written about postcolonialism, surprisingly little has specifically addressed the position of Canada, Canadian literature, or Canadian culture. Postcolonialism is a theory that has gained credence throughout the world; it is be productive to ask if and how we, as Canadians, participate in postcolonial debates. It is also vital to examine the ways in which Canada and Canadian culture fit into global discussions as our culture reflects how we interact with our neighbours, allies, and adversaries. This collection wrestles with the problems of situating Canadian literature in the ongoing debates about culture, identity, and globalization, and of applying the slippery term of postcolonialism to Canadian literature. The topics range in focus from discussions of specific literary works to general theoretical contemplations. The twenty-three articles in this collection grapple with the recurrent issues of postcolonialism — including hybridity, collaboration, marginality, power, resistance, and historical revisionism — from the vantage point of those working within Canada as writers and critics. While some seek to confirm the legitimacy of including Canadian literature in the discussions of postcolonialism, others challenge this very notion.

Jama Connor Hedgecoth was four years old, living a transient, mission-filled life with her family in motels around the country, when she told her evangelist parents that it was her dream to care for all of the unwanted animals in the world. Along their travels, a few years later, she professed the same for abandoned children. Throughout her young and adult life, Jama¿s unstoppable faith led her to begin collecting these unique animals and children, even if she had to search in dumpsters to help feed them and her family. Jama believes that God will provide for the calling she knows she was given. Along an astounding forty-year journey filled with incredible miracles, a chance encounter gifted Jama a 250-acre farm in Locust Grove, Georgia. On this land that she calls ¿Noah¿s Ark,¿ she has raised four birth children, more than four hundred foster children, six adopted children, and nurtures more than fifteen hundred animals of over one hundred species, including the internationally recognized lion, tiger, and bear trio known as the BLT. Noah¿s Ark Animal Sanctuary is widely known in the animal-and-child advocacy realms, and is supported by the kindness of people from all walks of life around the world. After reading Jama¿s phenomenal road to her continued humbled life today, child-and-animal advocate or not, you will be inspired to support Noah¿s Ark, too, simply because you will want the sheer goodness of it all to carry on.For more information, please visit www.noahs-ark.org.

The Templar Treasure

An Investigation

Following author Tobias Wabbel’s research and investigation throughout Europe, this book solves the mystery of the treasure of the Knights Templar. The most up-to-date archeological and historical information is discussed, from the history of the Knights Templar and the history of the Israelites and the Ark of the Covenant, to medieval literature and Gothic cathedral architecture. Disproving common theories—the Knights Templar never guarded the pilgrimage ways in Palestine, there is no Priory of Sion, there is no bloodline from Jesus to the present day, and there is no authentic Shroud of Turin—the book also proves the existence of the sacred Ark of the Covenant, also known as the treasure of the Knights Templar, which is still hidden in France. Wabbel researched iconography in the architecture of cathedrals and chapels, and found more evidence in texts and inscriptions that led to his theory on the location of the Templar treasure. Both a travel guide to the secrets of the treasure of the Knights Templar and a fascinating read, this book will shake commonly held beliefs on this interconnected history and renew the interest in it.
