People will ask you throughout your life, “Where do you work?” and “What do you do?” They never ask you, “What are you building?” When conversations change to “What are you building?” the world will change. Written for anyone trying to figure out how to make the most of their lives, Born to Build seeks to inspire entrepreneurs and ambitious, self-motivated people to build something that will change the world. A builder’s venture could be a small business that grows into a mammoth enterprise, a thriving new division in an existing company, a nonprofit, a social enterprise, a church, a school — anything that creates economic growth and makes a lasting impact on society. Born to Build is written by Gallup Chairman and CEO Jim Clifton and Sangeeta Badal, Ph.D., Principal Scientist for Gallup’s Entrepreneurship and Job Creation initiative, and is grounded in years of research. This book goes beyond the conventional economics-based business training and instead offers a uniquely psychological approach to venture building. It gives readers the tools and techniques they need to understand who they are, what motivates them and what they can build — and how. By following the practical steps in Born to Build, readers will have the tools to build a sustainable and profitable venture of any size from scratch. Central to the book is a code that allows readers to take Gallup’s Builder Profile 10 (BP10) assessment, which identifies their innate talents and motivations and shows them how to make the most of their talents to build a successful enterprise.

Want to save cash, your child's imagination and possibly even the planet? This is the book you need. Packed with great photos of real families in the outdoors, Born to Be Wild contains easy-to-follow instructions for activities that require nothing more sophisticated than a small person's imagination and access to a little outdoor space. Nature lays on magical materials for free each season, from fallen leaves and twigs, moulted feathers, sand and shells, to mud, puddles and rain. Everything else you'll need for these activities is already hiding in your cupboards at home. No expensive art supplies of outward-bound kit required. All you need are the toolkit items at the front of the book - ordinary household essentials like scraps of paper, string, glue, recycled food containers and an empty jar or two. Along the way Hattie talks to families, organisations and communities who have rebuilt their relationships with nature with extreme or inspiring results, and she introduces scientists, psychologists and other experts who explain why, as modern families, we should revive our waning relationships with nature, whatever age or stage we're at.

THOUGHT PREVOKING. INVIGORATING. INSPIRATIONAL. A ROUSING ROADMAP FOR ANYONE WHO DESIRES TO TRANSFORM THEIR FINANCIAL SITUATION AND DISCOVER HOW TO USE WHATS IN THEIR HANDS TO CREATE GENERATIONAL WEALTH AND TRUE FINANCIAL FREEDOM. LaShawne Holland never knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. Unlike her 3rd grade classmates, who wanted to be attorneys, astronauts, chefs, and doctors, she never had THAT vision. Her vision was unconventional and so was her answer to the teacher. “I DON’T WANT TO BE BROKE” were the words that escaped her mouth. Loud and clear, she confidently repeated it as second time as if the class didn’t hear her the first time as confirmation of her big dream. She was an honor roll student all throughout school, then in her 12th grade year, her High School Guidance Counselor told her in a meeting that “kids like you don’t go to college”. Confused and shocked by his comments, she left that meeting more determined than ever to not become the statistic that society would try to box her in to be. She went to college, working three jobs to pay her way through school, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and went to work in Corporate America. It didn’t take long for her to start to feel the uncomfortable tug in her heart that she didn’t want to be placed in a box and only make in a salary what her boss deemed she was worth. Born to Multiply is about seizing and taking hold of the promises of God in the bible where wealth and riches is concerned and apply them to your life. Its about employing your gifts, that was placed inside of you before the foundations of the world to create wealth. LaShawne believes that wealth follows purpose and no one has the right to tell you that you can only have a certain income level. LaShawne disrupts the social-economic norms that society tries to tag children of teen parents with. In Born to Multiply, she shares her journey and helps the reader discover how to transform financial suffocation to financial success

Born the son of a sharecropper in 1894 near Ninety Six, South Carolina, Benjamin E. Mays went on to serve as president of Morehouse College for twenty-seven years and as the first president of the Atlanta School Board. His earliest memory, of a lynching party storming through his county, taunting but not killing his father, became for Mays an enduring image of black-white relations in the South. Born to Rebel is the moving chronicle of his life, a story that interlaces achievement with the rebuke he continually confronted.

While architects have been the subject of many scholarly studies, we know very little about the companies that built the structures they designed. This book is a study in business history as well as civil engineering and construction management. It details the contributions that Charles J. Pankow, a 1947 graduate of Purdue University, and his firm have made as builders of large, often concrete, commercial structures since the company's foundation in 1963. In particular, it uses selected projects as case studies to analyze and explain how the company innovated at the project level. The company has been recognized as a pioneer in "design-build," a methodology that involves the construction company in the development of structures and substitutes negotiated contracts for the bidding of architects' plans. The Pankow companies also developed automated construction technologies that helped keep projects on time and within budget. The book includes dozens of photographs of buildings under construction from the company's archive and other sources. At the same time, the author analyzes and evaluates the strategic decision making of the firm through 2004, the year in which the founder died. While Charles Pankow figures prominently in the narrative, the book also describes how others within the firm adapted the business so that the company could survive a commercial market that changed significantly as a result of the recession of the 1990s. Extending beyond the scope of most business biographies, this book is a study in industry innovation and the power of corporate culture, as well as the story of one particular company and the individuals who created it.
