Death - and what lies beyond - is not something you consider every day. But the thought of it raises some intriguing questions: Are there good reasons for believing in life after death? What is the afterlife like? How valid are the reports of near death experiences? Do heaven and hell exist? And if so, how can hell be reconciled with a loving God? By sharing the very latest scientific, philosophical, anthropological, ethical, and theological evidence on life after death, noted Christian scholars Habermas and Moreland present a strong case for immortality with this book. They begin by taking up the question of whether life after death is real and what evidence supports its reality. They then explore what the afterlife is like and go on to show how having this reality in your future should affect the way you live here and now. This book will reassure you that there's no need to fear death - as long as you're prepared eternity that follows. It's also a great aid in developing a serious biblical, rational, and even scientific defense for the belief in life beyond the grave.

'In a book of such varied contents, it is certain that eveyone will find something which will challenge and inform - and indeed, on occasion, inspire.' - John Bowker, Church Times Throughout history human beings have been preoccupied with personal survival after death. As a consequence, most world religions proclaim that life continues beyond the grave, and they have depicted the Hereafter in a variety of forms. These various conceptions constitute answers to the most perplexing spiritual questions: Will we remember our former lives in the Hereafter? Will we have bodies? Can bodiless souls recognize each other? Will we continue to have personal identity? Will we be punished or rewarded, or absorbed into the Godhead? These issues serve as the basis of this collection of essays which provide a framework for understanding traditional conceptions of the Hereafter as well as new perspectives.

Leaving behind both fear and belief, Samael Aun Weor explains through vivid stories what happens when we die and how we can prepare ourselves now to take full advantage of the experience.Instructions to prepare the soul for the process of dying and the experiences of the afterlife are found within the scriptures of every mystical tradition, especially the Bible, The Theban Recension (Egyptian Book of the Dead), and the Bardo Thodol (Tibetan Book of the Dead), yet they are veiled in cryptic symbolism and are difficult for most people to understand. Now, for the first time, this book fearlessly approaches the topics of death, dying, and the afterlife for our day and age -- and for those who are tired of theories and are ready to know the truth through their own experience.Collects several books in one volume:1. The Book of the Dead: Originally published in Spanish as "El Libro de Los Muertos" (1966).2. Suicide and martyrdom are closely intertwined with Korean social and political processes. In this first book-length study of the evolving ideals of honorable death and martyrdom from the Chosŏn Dynasty (1392–1910) to contemporary South Korea, interdisciplinary essays explore the changing ways in which Korean historical agents have considered what constitutes a sociopolitically meaningful death and how the surviving community should remember such events. Among the topics covered are the implications of women’s chaste suicides and men’s righteous killings in the evolving Confucian-influenced social order of the latter half of the Chosŏn Dynasty; changing nation-centered constructions of sacrifice and martyrdom put forth by influential intellectual figures in mid-twentieth-century South Korea, which were informed by the politics of postcolonial transition and Cold War ideology; and the decisive role of martyrdom in South Korea’s interlinked democracy and labor movements, including Chun Tae-il’s self-immolation in 1970, the loss of hundreds of lives during the Kwangju Uprising of 1980, and the escalation of protest suicides in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Beyond Life! Beyond Death! is a post colonial statement on the life of the post modern man, who has suffered emotional, psychological, and spiritual erosion, as a result of which he has lost his mental balance, and his physical shape too. He is a distorted figure now, beyond recognition, and in search of his redemption as a human being, which is eluding him, because, religion has failed to come to his rescue, no prophet can salvage him now, that he has slipped down the 'wasteland' into the 'wretchedland'. In this dark atmsophere, spiritual regeneration alone can help him out of this morass, for which, man will have to look beyond religion, into the possibilities of living in spirituality, which is a bypass and connects man directly with the divine, using love is the binding force, rather than fear on which religious establishment is built.

Do we have reasonable and rational hope of life after the event I call death? Knowledge is powerful. This book is powerful because it presents knowledge, information, insights, discoveries, experiences, and rational, compelling evidence of life and consciousness after the event I call death. Life Beyond Death, if read, digested, and experienced with an open mind, will greatly help you to understand and, most likely, not be afraid of death anymore as you attain a position and level of consciousness with insights and truths that humans have searched for down through the ages and the search by numerous civilizations for this information and insights. The book addresses, responds, and answers the following questions, among many others. 1) What is a near-death experience? 2) What happens at our death? 3) What are God (Yahweh, Elohim) and Jesus Christ like? 4) How big is God according to Jesus Christ of the Holy Bible? 5) Are animals/pets in heaven? 6) Are our physically deceased loved ones in heaven? 7) What is the relationship between life, soul, spirit, breath, essence, and consciousness, and what do they tell us about death? 8) What are the rational proof and compelling anecdotal evidence to support life beyond death? There is life after death. I know by experience and a lot of research. This book will bring you closer to Godour Father, Creator, and Supreme Level of Consciousness. If you have questions or concerns about death and the afterlife, this book is a must-read. Faith and reason (thinking) go together as they are connected. This book will reduce your fear of death and make you a happier and more fulfilled person.

"This book fruitfully serves those looking to apply Ernest Beckerís ideas psychotherapeutically, in individual counseling or in group therapy. A capstone to Robert Firestoneís 50 years of work in psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and psychiatry and to the numerous books written by these authors, Firestone and Catlett show how to apply the themes and implications of the ideas of Ernest Becker in everyday life. Their basic premise is that accepting death is part of developing an affirming and meaningful experience of life. Contributing to the credibility of their presentation is the wealth of clinical evidence and personal experience Firestone and Catlett incorporate." --The Ernest Becker Foundation "[F]ascinating and an enjoyable read....steeped in well researched and relevant psychological and sociological perspectives applicable to all social studies areas..." --Carol Lloyd University of Chichester "Firestone and Catlettís work is a marvelous achievement....This volume is both innovative and intrepid. Firestone and Catlett challenge prevailing psychoanalytic views on death and they demolish many of the accepted canons of thanatology and existential psychology. ...This is required reading for anyone who purports to talk about death." -- Jerry Piven, PhD Author of Death and Delusion: A Freudian Analysis of Mortal Terror "[A] towering synthesis of personal and clinical wisdom about death....with a superb overview of the psychology of death and death anxiety....Dr. Firestone draws on the best of the existential-humanistic as well as the psychoanalytic thinkers to address a flourishing path toward self-realization." -Kirk J. Schneider, PhD Author, Existential-Integrative Psychotherapy and Awakening to Awe (From the Foreword) Firestone and Catlett's groundbreaking volume assists mental health practitioners in helping their clients learn to accept and face their mortality. They describe the many defenses of death anxiety that keep individuals from achieving personal fulfillment, and also suggest methods to cope directly with fears of death; an approach that, ironically, can lead to more satisfaction, more freedom, and a greater appreciation for the gift of life. This book examines the many destructive consequences of death anxiety, including introversion, depression, and withdrawal from life. Throughout the book, the authors demonstrate the importance of achieving what they call life-affirming death awareness. Key topics include: The dawning awareness of death and its impact on the developing child Literal and symbolic defenses against death anxiety Separation theory and "the fantasy bond" Challenging the defenses that interfere with living fully Microsuicide: the death of the spirit Breaking with limiting religious dogma and cultural worldviews With this book, mental health practitioners and their clients will be able to better understand death awareness, overcome the defenses against death anxiety, and ultimately lead richer, more fulfilling lives.

Followers of the early New Age movement known as New Thought, which was wildly popular at the turn of the 20th century, were intensely interested in gleaning the fruit of all of humanity s spiritual wisdom. Here, in this curious volume originally published in 1909, one of the most influential New Thought writers and editors introduces Western readers to Eastern thought on what, exactly, is on the other side of the river of death. From the geography of the astral plane to the soul-slumber that occurs after death, from communication with spirits to what lies beyond reincarnation, this is a fascinating look at the pop spirituality of a century ago.American writer WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON (1862 1932) aka Theron Q. Dumont was born in Baltimore and had built up a successful law practice in Pennsylvania before professional burnout led him to the religious New Thought movement. He served as editor of the popular magazine New Thought from 1901 to 1905, and as editor of the journal Advanced Thought from 1916 to 1919. He authored dozens of New Thought books including Arcane Formula or Mental Alchemy and Vril, or Vital Magnetism under numerous pseudonyms, some of which are likely still unknown today.

In this fast paced, intriguing, suspense-filled and dramatic novel, Lysious tells a story of love, pain, betrayal, and forgiveness as seen in the lives of two friends. Henry and Naomi were two teenage sweethearts who made a vow of chastity at a very young age. But even in the midst of true love, their friendship is seen to be constantly entangled in a web of grief and strife. Characterized by a vicious circle of sorrows, tears, heartaches and troubles, it is not the usual love ride of teenage relationships, as the two love birds are made to face the harsh realities of life while battling to save their relationship. One might even guess the two were not right for each other. Being a pretty young lady who seemed not to attract the attention of Henry alone, Naomi finds herself on two occasions in the arms of other boys at the verge of compromising her part of the vow, and Henry wonders why she would still cheat on him after all these years of being together. But with each test, their love for each other is made stronger, and Henry also discovers that after years of being with her, he really doesnt know Naomi like he thought he did. Love Birds: Beyond Death is a tale of young love that stood the test of time, and continued beyond the realms of mortality.
