Author: Robert Schwalbe Ph.D.
As a psychotherapist who focuses on working with the issues that challenge midlife and older men, Robert Schwalbe feels that the 60s and beyond can be the most rewarding or the most miserable period in a man's life. An aging male baby boomer looking at 60 encounters very specific psychological and physical changes. The impact of these changes can be felt in relationship to others and in how a man sees himself in his world. Does he continue to fit in? In particular, how a man adapts to being in his 60s is an indicator of how he feels about living the rest of his life. Dr. Schwalbe knows from personal experience, as well as from his patients, the challenges produced by anxiety and depression in dealing with aging in a youth-oriented society. He looks at competition in the gym, sports field, financial and business arena, the political world to the social and sexual world and urges men to adapt to the outside forces. The key is in the expectations and how to recognize and plan for them. Candid and straightforward talk with vignettes drawn from Dr. Schwalbe's practice illustrate problems and solutions related to marriage, relationships, career, retirement (don't, he urges), divorce, death of a partner, fitness, nutrition, sexual behavior, dealing with adult children, lifestyle changes, financial planning, ageism, and many other topics. Schwalbe presents a heart-felt and therapeutically tested guide to keeping things in perspective in order to maintain self confidence and self esteem. Most importantly, this book is directed to the aging male baby boomer (and to those who love him, know him, or live with him). It tells him that he is not alone and that the intimate thoughts that he has about his aging body and mind are shared by millions of men who are in their 60s and are dealing with their new age.

The world is undergoing a spiritual awakening, but that doesnt necessarily mean everything is getting better. While some Christians are celebrating the glory of Gods teachings, others are living in a state of fear. The explosion of technology and knowledge has now opened doors that were previously closed. Amid this backdrop, there are many people who have attended church and received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, but who still feel as though something is missing. They lack peace, and are searching for answers from God. To help people better understand the times, grow closer to God, and press into an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ, Audrey Drummonds founded Interior Coverings Ministry and Outreach Missions in Valrico, Fl. Because researchers often treat baby boomers of color as belonging to one group, quality data on the individual status of specific racial populations is lacking, leading to insufficiently designed programs, policies, and services. The absence of data is a testament to the invisibility of baby boomers of color in society and deeply affects the practice of social work and other helping professions that require culturally sensitive approaches. Melvin Delgado rectifies this injustice by providing a comprehensive portrait of the status and unique assets of boomers of color. Using specific data, he grounds an understanding of boomers'financial, medical, and emotional needs within a historical, socioeconomic, cultural, and political context, resulting in tailored recommendations for meeting the challenges of a growing population. His research focuses on African American, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Native American older adults and addresses issues of financial security, employment stability, housing, and health care, which are often complicated by linguistic and cultural differences. Rather than treat baby boomers of color as a financial burden on society and its resources, Delgado recognizes their strengths and positive contributions to families and communities, resulting in an affirming and empowering approach to service.

milk is inheritance. The baby has inherited these characteristics from its parents.

Buddhas Principle of Relativity (Mind - Body Stress) You will undoubtedly be bumping into the most philosophical of Buddhas teachings. The Principle of Relativity (Paticcasamuppada) was His first set of guidelines for freedom from suffering. Buddha found a cure for mental disorder and decided to pass on the therapy to others. He was far ahead of the times. The theory remained puzzling for the past 1500 years or even more. However, after years of study, I think I have an answer a scientific explanation. Eureka I have found it. Buddhas philosophy is scientific, analytical and stands to reason. It reveals that we are the architects of our own problems we created them. Find out how they can be destroyed. What is Paticcasamuppada (PS)? As I see it, Paticcasamuppada describes a biological process that takes place when a disturbance agitates a balanced state within the body. This doctrine specifically deals with an internal sensation (ignorance) causing the brain to generate effects, both mentally and physically. This process, however, applies to almost all instances in our daily life. Read it. You can see for yourself. Ven Buddhaghosa misjudged the significance of PS Visuddhimagga (The Path of Purification) is regarded among Theravada Buddhists as the authority and a classic textbook on the Buddhas teachings dealing on abstract psychological concepts. Ven Buddhaghosas interpretation of the PS is regarded as standard. It obscures the truth but nevertheless, it has been accepted for the last 1500 years, for in yet another commentary Sammohavinodani (Dispeller of Delusion) he describes PS as occurring in brief moments of time described as mind moments, but had nothing to say about it. Both commentaries are from the Tripitaka. Referring to this doctrine Ven Buddhaghosa says: it is inherently difficult to comment on PS as the ancients did (page 599 Visuddhimagga)). The truth, a being, rebirth linking, and Paticcasamuppada, are four things very hard to see and difficult to teach. I find no footing for support and seem to founder in a sea. Whoever learns alertly this PS, will go from excellence to excellence and when perfected, he will then escape beyond the vision of the King of Death Heres another confusing quote: (page 600) Buddhas teaching of PS is four fold (1) From the beginning to the end (2) From the middle, up to the end (3) From the end, or (4) From the middle, down and to the beginning And yet another; (page 671) Explaining his interpretation of PS on a lifetime to lifetime basis, he quotes: There is re-birth linking, which is consciousness There is descent into the womb, which is mentality materiality There is sensitivity which is sense base There is which is touched, which is contact There is what is felt, which is feeling This is a clear misconception of Buddhas most insightful teaching proclaimed by Him soon after Enlightenment related to mind moments, for workings of the mind are Buddhas area of specialty. Recent interpretations in his book by P.A. Payutto tilted Dependent Origination published by Buddhadhamma Foundation, Bangkok, Thailand and by Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, also of Thailand, titled Dependent Origination shed doubts on to the validity of Ven Buddhaghosas interpretation, on a lifetime - to lifetime basis. They think that this may not be the case. So why continue?

High-risk pregnancies are increasing and form a significant proportion of the pregnant patient population. Compendium for the Antenatal Care of High-Risk Pregnancies takes a unique approach to over 140 conditions, combining 'Fact Files', 'Care Pathways', and 'Information for Patients' in one volume. The book is designed to provide a practical and accessible individualised framework of information for doctors in busy clinical environments, and to integrate the specialist care offered to women with high-risk pregnancies. For each condition, the book covers vital points on risk reduction, clinical governance, discussion with patients, and required documentation. This is important in a litigious environment with high patient expectations, and demonstrates how clinical governance and risk management are interwoven in daily clinical practice. The model care pathways are designed as clear, practical templates, ensuring the best care for the patient, while ensuring that visits, staff time, and resources are not wasted. The information for patients section is a valuable resource for busy staff, especially as it is increasingly important that patients are informed participants in their care. Following current RCOG and NICE guidance, the book is heavily referenced and evidence-based, resulting in a reliable resource for obstetricians of all grades. Due to its integrated approach, the book is beneficial to midwives, and any specialists from other disciplines involved in the care of patients with high-risk pregnancies.

The Talmud is one of the most significant religious texts in the world, second only to the Bible in its importance to Judaism. As the Bible is the word of God, The Talmud applies that word to the lives of its followers. In a range of styles including commentary, parables, proverbs and anecdotes, it provides guidance on all aspects of everyday life from ownership to commerce to relationships. This selection of its most illuminating passages makes accessible the centuries of Jewish thought within The Talmud. Norman Solomon's clear translation from the Bavli (Babylonian) Talmud is accompanied by an introduction on its arrangement, social and historical background, reception and authors. This edition also includes appendixes of background information, a glossary, time line, maps and indexes.
