From the single-cylinder bikes of the 1950s to the high-performance sportbikes of today, The Complete Book of Ducati Motorcycles showcases the entire spectrum of Ducati. Legendary Ducati motorcycles have something of a rags-to-riches story. This Italian motorcycle manufacturer began by selling motorized bicycles to impoverished residents of post-World War II Italy. Today, Ducati is the world's premier manufacturer of street motorcycles whose sales continue to rise year after year. Its svelte, hyper-accelerating motorcycles are two-wheeled wonders that are fluent in the language of speed. The Complete Book of Ducati Motorcycles traces the stunning chronology of the motorcycles dreamed up by Ducati, from the 1950s to present day. Laid out for the first time in encyclopedia form with gorgeous photography and insights from Ducati expert Ian Falloon, this book offers motorcycle enthusiasts a closer look at the craftsmanship, power, and beauty of these extraordinary motorcycles. The book features all of the motorcycles from Ducati's storied history, including the groundbreaking Desmodromic 750 Super Sport, the Mike Hailwood Replica, the Superbike-dominating 916, and the epic Panigale. From the street bikes that gave birth to the very notion of the modern superbike to the racing motorcycles that dominated tracks in Great Britain, Europe, and North America since the latter part of the twentieth century, The Complete Book of Ducati Motorcycles runs the full gamut of sportbikes. It's a collection that demands shelf space in the library of any true motorcycle collector or fan.

Everything you wanted to know about Moto Guzzi! The oldest European motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production, Italy's Moto Guzzi has built some of the most iconic motorcycles ever produced. Established in 1921, the company is one of the most traditional motorcycle makers and also one of the most innovative. Today Moto Guzzi has a higher profile than ever, thanks to its popularity among celebrities like Ewan McGregor. Moto Guzzi was formed by Carlo Guzzi, Giovanni Ravelli, and Giorgio Parodi after WW I. Carlo Guzzi's first engine design, a horizontal single, defined Moto Guzzi's road-going motorcycles for the company's first 45 years. In the 1950s, Moto Guzzi experienced tremendous success in Grand Prix motorcycle racing. Moto Guzzi has experienced low points as well as high points. In February 1967, a state controlled receiver took ownership of Moto Guzzi. It was while in receivership that Guzzi developed the 90-degree V twin engine that came to define Moto Guzzi. De Tomaso Industries Inc. purchased Moto Guzzi in 1973. In 2000 Aprilia S.p.A acquired Moto Guzzi. In 2004, Piaggio & C. S.p.A acquired Aprilia. With the financial backing of a large corporation like Piaggio, Moto Guzzi was once again on firm financial footing, and sales have been on the rise. For the first time ever, The Complete Book of Moto Guzzi: Every Model Since 1921 collects all of these iconic motorcycle in encyclopedia form, written by widely respected Moto Guzzi expert Ian Falloon.

The official book to discover Ducati's glorious history: unparalleled tradition made of innovation, Italian style and sport victories that started 90 years ago. Since 1926 Ducati has been creating emotions. Excellence born in Italy, in Borgo Panigale, where it continues to grow year upon year. The history of Ducati is driven by a unique engineering talent that has always generated motorcycles of unmistakable design and most profound sporting spirit. Ducati was founded on 4 July 1926 almost as a dream, thanks to the will of the three brothers Adriano, Bruno and Marcello Cavalieri Ducati, supported by their father Antonio. It is fitting to define Ducati's history as a dream, because the adventure began in a dark laboratory in the centre of Bologna, in Via Collegio di Spagna 7, when the work force consisted of just two workers and a secretary. Probably not even the Ducati brothers could have imagined what that small laboratory would one day become. Two employees at the small laboratory became almost 1200 in 1936, and the company grew in overwhelming fashion. If we look back, and think of that small condenser built by two workers in 1926, we are amazed and can truly see how compelling and fascinating the story of this company is, a company born almost by chance but always steered by passion and love.

Ducati stunned the world in 1988 when the struggling, small Italian firm unleashed its Desmoquattro -- 8-valve, desmodromic -- Superbike. The bike found success on the world's racetracks right from the start. Road-going versions soon carried that success to the general public, proving this design wasn't just another noisy prototype. The Superbikes -- 748, 851, 888, 916, and 996 -- are now Ducati's best-selling machines in the United States; and the Desmoquattro engine found its way into the company's more pedestrian series such as the Monster roadster and ST4 sport-tour. This is the comprehensive volume on Ducati's ultimate performance motorcycles and replaces the out-of-print Ducati Super Bikes: 851, 888, 916.

Celebrate more than 60 years of Italian motorcycle mastery, in an elegant slipcase. Over 60 years ago in Bologna, Italy, a small company called Ducati began manufacturing simple, inexpensive 50cc motorcycles—really no more than two-stroke-powered bicycles. Since then, Ducati has evolved into one of the most storied names in the motorcycling world, its lineup of beautiful machines revered for their technical excellence and extreme performance. In The Art of Ducati, Ducati expert Ian Falloon teams with renowned British photographer James Mann to present a gorgeously illustrated, wonderfully curated review of more than six decades of Ducati excitement. From the single-cylinder bikes of the 1950s and 1960s to the bevel-drive twins of the 1970s and early 1980s to the high-performance bikes of the 21st century, The Art of Ducati showcases a motorcycle marque that has never rested on its laurels. Ducati’s style and technology have constantly evolved, engineering timeless classics like the 900SS, Darmah, Mike Hailwood Replica, 851, 916, Monster, and ST sports touring series, bikes that laid the foundation for today’s cutting-edge models: the Panigale superbike, Multistrada adventure bike, all-new Monster, Hypermotard, and Diavel power cruiser. While there’s no end in sight for Ducati’s dominance, The Art of Ducati pays homage to their past six-plus decades of masterful motorcycle engineering. How do you replace a legend? For Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer worshiped by racers and riders all over the world, the answer was to start from scratch. When the company decided to produce a successor to its immensely popular 916/996/998 series, it allowed designer Pierre Terblanche to create a completely new bike built from the inside out. This approach resulted in a radically styled motorcycle whose improved ergonomics offer greater comfort and control, with more agile handling at all speeds.Ducati also broke with tradition by allowing two of the worlds top motorcycling writers, Alan Cathcart and Marc Cook, to document the birth of the 999-from the earliest design ideas through final production. In an industry where product plans and manufacturing techniques are usually guarded like state secrets, Cathcart and Cook were given complete access to the designers, engineers, and technicians who worked to make the 999 a superbike sensation.

Porsche 912

When the Porsche 912 was introduced in the spring of 1965, some members of the staff were not quite happy with the new model, for it still had the four-cylinder engine of the 356 that was no longer in production, while the 911 already had the new six-cylinder, and had become a legend. However, the 911 was so expensive that many Porsche devotees in Germany could not, or did not want to, afford to buy it. For this reason, Porsche quickly needed a new, less expensive model so the 912 came into being, and from 1966 to 1969 about 32,000 vehicles were built. Apart from the Porsche 912 Coupe (1965 to 1969) this book also presents the Porsche 912 Targa (1966 to 1969). Less well-known, but all the more intriguing, is the story of the Porsche 912E, built in 1976 just for the US market, and of which only 2099 specimens exist."
