(Rhein-Zeitung)

THE FAIRY STORIES YOU WERE NOT TOLD AS A CHILD. More than 30 years after the publication of the original book, this book is a homage, albeit more basic, to Roald Dahl and his "Revolting Rhymes." Read the true stories behind the myths, but take heed of the title of this book and the warning in the Prologue, "Alas, because of verity, As you, dear reader, will soon see, These stories can be somewhat crude And some might think they're slightly rude." + "And if you've little ones about Don't read aloud and do not shout. But if you must, then guard their fears By using cheese to block their ears!" If you are not inhibited by this advice you will read about the three little pigs and the wolf "He suffered from digestive gas In his rear and prone to pass" and "Jack, vision blurred, head feeling thick, Had only thoughts of being sick" Sleeping Beauty who was "Working quietly by the fire Spinning strands of sharp barbed wire" and the idiot Prince who thought "That Princesses, if they were true, Didn't need to use the loo"

Sean has created an impressive book here, anyone who is already familiar with his work will know that books do not get any ruder than his. For anybody who hasn't come across his work before, it is packed with jaw-dropping material. It is possibly one or the most disgusting books ever written, Having said that his work is also very funny as well. Admittedly it's not to everyone's taste, but for those with a broad-minded sense of humour his books can be very amusing. All of the material in his books is written by him, there is nothing included by any other authors. This edition is as the name suggests is a compilation of his first two books, Lewd Limericks volumes I an II and Rude and Witty Limericks. The last book is a slightly toned down combination of the first two, but with some of the extreme sexual material either dropped or censored. Having said that it still manages to deliver in the same manner as the first two. There is a small amount of new material here well. The big bonus in Sean's latest book is the inclusion of ten rhymes as well. Their style and content follow a similar pattern to the limericks. I think they are very interesting in their own right. They have never been published before. Not suitable for children.
