Como novedades de esta edición destaca: mayor énfasis en la práctica basada en la evidencia, mejora de la cobertura de la investigación cualitativa, inclusión de dos procesos de evaluación (el proceso de evaluación en profundidad prepara a los estudiantes para el trabajo a nivel de postgrado. El proceso de evaluación concisa prepara a las enfermeras que comienzan a trabajar para la evaluación rápida y precisa de la aplicabilidad de los resultados de la investigación a la práctica clínica), un mayor hincapié en la investigación práctica (ayuda a los estudiantes a comprender la importancia de la investigación) y la mejora del diseño para facilitar la lectura y estudio. Con el nuevo Grado se pone especial énfasis principalmente en los cuidados, la investigación y el liderazgo profesional. En las diferentes universidades se observa un criterio bastante uniforme en cuanto al peso de la asignatura de "Investigación en Enfermería" (de 6 a 9 créditos) siendo por tanto éste un texto de referencia para todos los estudiantes de Enfermería. Las salidas profesionales de la Enfermería pueden desarrollarse también en el campo de la investigación en Hospitales e instituciones asistenciales públicos o privados, Facultades de Enfermería, Institutos de Ciencias de la Salud, Instituciones gubernamentales tales como Ministerios, Consejeria, Agencias de Salud Pública...
